2023: « AMORE, ORA PRO NOBIS »

"Is there hope? Survival and pursuing one's art is the great challenge facing artists at the moment. The future of music as we know it is in danger, and therefore we must double our efforts and develop new strategies. In the current world situation, we are not the only ones struggling with the war in Ukraine. From a wave of solidarity, the project has developed.

Soriane Renaud, soprano, and Karolina Juodelyte, organist, will make recordings in the form of a series of podcasts available online, featuring mainly contemporary composers, improvisations, and interviews. Many people hesitate to attend concerts because they are afraid of getting sick or because they simply are not used to it anymore. We want to offer them our podcasts to stay in touch with the audience and provide them with an alternative so that they eventually feel like going to live concerts again.

Interview with composer Iryna Aleksiychuk

Title: Cycle for voice, organ, and bell - "Amore, ora pro nobis”

Composer: Iryna Aleksiychuk

Voice: Soriane Renaud

Organ: Karolina Juodelyte

We chose composer Iryna Aleksiychuk for the quality, style, and sensitivity of her compositions, whose text, based on the poems of Oleg Stepanenko, tells of love on the brink of life and death, of love that will survive even the most loving because it does not succumb to death like they do."

Recorded in 2022 Voices: Soriane Renaud Jennifer Gleinig Organ: Karolina Juodelyte. In collaboration with "Startbahn," which provides "a space to experiment and try out innovative formats of church," and with "pio_near," which "opens performative spaces for collective experiences," here is an audio-video recording of our work in progress. Composition based on words of people around the world who shared with us "3 words" about what they have experienced psychologically, emotionally, physically, and spiritually during the pandemic. This will allow us to stay active and get closer to our audience by offering them a moment of calm, with the goal of creating a long-term collaboration.

Despite the limitations imposed by the pandemic, we want to remain active and continue to develop artistically, as well as create a new form of interaction with the audience by involving them in the artistic process. Over the past year, we have found it difficult to stay in touch with our audience, and so we want to perform improvisations based on their testimonies.

« WACHET AUF »

Recorded in 2021. An audio-video concert montage consisting of early and contemporary music as well as dance was created, dedicated to the emotions experienced during this time, the fear of death, the urge to be creative, the hope that culture will also exist in the future.

It was recorded in the round Genazareth Church in Neukölln, which is rich in expressionist and spiritual architecture, due to the intimate acoustics.

Programm:

  • 00:00 [trio] - Free improvisation

  • 01:29 [Solo, trio] - "O Vis Aeternitatis" Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179)

  • 07:02 [trio] - "Ardant amour souvent me fait languir" O. di Lasso (1532-1594)

  • 08:47 [solo] - "The Lilly" Samy Moussa (*1984)

  • 11:10 [duet] - "Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme" M. Praetorius (1571-1621)

The choice fell on a song about the pain of love by Di Lasso because of the passion it expresses, which we were denied without performances, and the piece by Samy Moussa with its pure, powerful way of composing, which allows us to travel from the depths of the soul into a timeless eternity.

The aim was to help independent artists practise their art during the restrictions. At this critical time, we fear that all creativity will disappear from society, as will a sense of identity.
